ARUSHA: SINGIDA Black Stars have launched a month-long training camp in Arusha, taking advantage of the Mainland Premier League’s hiatus ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals, which will begin next month and last for the entire month.
The project is part of the team’s preparations for the return of competitive activity, including the Mainland Premier League and Federation Cup, which will both resume on March 1.
The training camp, led by new Head Coach Hamdi Miloud, will include multiple friendly matches aimed at honing the squad’s skills and recovering the form that saw them start the season well.
Miloud, who joined the team in mid-season, is using the break to establish relationships with his players and apply his tactical vision for the group.
New signing – Jonathan Sowah is set to join the team during the camp, as will Hernest Malonga, who has returned to the club following a loan spell with Coastal Union.
These signings are anticipated to improve the squad as they strive to perform at their peak in the approaching challenges.
Club’s Media and Communication Officer, Hussein Massanza, explained why the training camp began so early.
“While it may seem too early given the long break, the coach requested it to build the squad and work on areas that need improvement while other teams are resting,” “The team started training yesterday, and things are going well. The players are performing well,” he explained.

Miloud, who has only been with the squad for a short time, is confident in his players: “I see a lot of promise here. The squad demonstrates exceptional expertise, work ethic and leadership. My objective is to hone their skills and help them grow together,” he said.
The coach also highlighted the importance of the next friendlies in evaluating the team’s progress, with three to four matches already scheduled. Following a strong start to the season, Singida Black Stars’ success has dipped, with five wins, two ties and three defeats in their past ten games.
The team’s early momentum was hampered with a 1-0 setback against Young Africans, indicating a difficult period.
Miloud’s side is now fourth in the Mainland Premier League rankings with 33 points from 16 matches, and his key goal is to revive the team’s optimism and consistency from the start of the season.
