DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC have issued an impassioned plea to their loyal fanbase to pack the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam to the brim in their crucial second-leg quarterfinal clash against Egyptian side Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup tomorrow.
The match is a crucial one for the Tanzanian giants, who are aiming to break a long-standing quarterfinal curse in CAF inter-club competitions.
Simba suffered a 2-0 loss last week at the New Suez Stadium in Suez, Egypt, making the upcoming match even more vital as they need to secure a three-goal margin at home to advance to the semifinals.
Club leaders and veterans gathered for a press conference in Dar es Salaam, urging the fans to show their unwavering support and make the difference in this pivotal moment in Simba’s continental journey.
Among those who attended the conference were former club sponsor Azim Dewji, club Chairman Murtaza Mangungu and former chairman Hassan Dalali (Field Marshal), all stressing the importance of fan support.
Former club sponsor Azim Dewji, addressing the press, made a passionate plea to the Simba supporters: “This match is vital for every Simba supporter. When Simba qualifies for the semifinals, you will be able to say that you were there. I believe we will cross this hurdle. Let’s come together and ensure Simba succeeds in reaching the semifinals.”

Simba’s chairman, Murtaza Mangungu, echoed the same sentiment, highlighting the efforts and cooperation that have gone into preparing for the game.
“We are determined and with God’s will, we will win. Our call to Simba fans is to rally behind the team.”
Simba’s former chairman, Hassan Dalali (Field Marshal), also shared his belief in the team’s capabilities.
“First, I congratulate the players for their performance in Egypt. They fought hard, but luck wasn’t on our side. I believe in the team’s abilities and we are not just aiming for the semifinals—we want the trophy. We have been to the finals before, in 1993 and now we are aiming to win it all.”
Simba’s CEO, Zubeda Sakuru, reassured fans that the club is fully prepared for the game and has been working closely with the government to ensure security for the match day.
“I encourage all Tanzanians to come out in large numbers to support our team. Also, I would like to stress the importance of adhering to security measures on match day. We will not allow anyone to cause any trouble before, during and after the match.”
