Simba Queens revamps squad ahead of new season

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA Queens Assistant Coach Mussa Hassan Mgosi has confirmed that the club is undergoing a significant squad overhaul during the current transfer window.

The aim is to build a new team comprised mainly of young, talented players to enhance competitiveness both domestically and internationally.

Speaking recently in Dar es Salaam, Mgosi revealed that the club will be parting ways with several senior players and replacing them with fresh faces, primarily up-andcoming talents who will bring new energy and competition for starting positions.

“Simba Queens will feature many new and young faces next season because we want to rebuild the team with strong internal competition. Every position should be earned, and our opponents should feel the pressure of facing a revitalized squad,” Mgosi stated.

According to Mgosi, the outcome of the past season served as a wakeup call, prompting the club to rethink its strategy and make significant changes in preparation for the new campaign.

“We will be letting go of a good number of players, many of whom you will likely see playing for other teams next season. Our focus is on recruiting players with great potential those we can nurture into stars. The goal is not just to compete but to dominate,” he announced.

Mgosi underscored the growing status of women’s football in Tanzania and across Africa, highlighting that investing in youth development is essential for the future.

“Women’s football is evolving rapidly; we must invest time and resources in identifying and grooming young talent. By saying we’re building a team that will pay off, I mean a team that consistently wins trophies and produces players who attract the attention of international clubs,” he remarked.

Mgosi added that “Simba Queens’ move to rejuvenate the squad comes at a time when competition in women’s football is intensifying, with more clubs investing in their teams and striving for excellence. The club, known for its rich history and dominance in the women’s league, is determined to reclaim its top position.”
