Simba Queens have departed the country on Wednesday morning en route to Morocco for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
The country’s envoys have already declared that their target is to reach the semifinals of the competition.
They are packed in group A together with AS FAR (Morocco), Determine Girls (Liberia), and Green Buffaloes (Zambia) respectively.
As such, the Queens have to excel in the group in order to step into the knockout category and thereafter sneak to the last four phase.
They will begin their group stage campaign versus AS FAR on October 30th before facing Determine Girls on November 2nd and winding up their mission against Green Buffaloes on November 5th.
The team’s Head Coach Charles Lukula is also confident that his charges are going to execute a tangible performance to achieve their intended status.
Simba Queens have therefore become the first team in the country to parade at the women’s champions league hence history in making.
Meanwhile, Simba Queens have secured a five-year sponsorship deal from M-Bet worth 1bn/-.
In her remarks after signing the contract on Wednesday afternoon in Dar es Salaam, Simba Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barbara Gonzalez says the value of Simba Queens is growing hence the reason to sign the lucrative deal.
“To secure a 1bn/- sponsorship package for a women’s team has never happened before in Tanzania and East Africa at large.
“As such, we are grateful to M-Bet for seeing potential in women’s football and let me urge other companies to come aboard and sponsor Simba Queens,” she says.
On his part, M-Bet Marketing Manager Allen Mushi says the sponsorship package is going to entice young girls who play football in schools to work hard in this sport.
“Time is here to invest a lot in women’s football because they have potential to do well. Massive investment is needed from grassroot level for them to achieve more,” he says.
Simba Queens are in Morocco for the CAF Women’s Champions League where they are competing for the first time and will fly high the country’s flag.
