Simba, Azam fight for 2nd place, golden boot and relegation
DAR ES SALAAM: It is a day of answers as the 2023/24 Mainland Premier League season comes to an end today.
A journey of 240 matches comes into conclusion this afternoon with all 16 teams in action from 4:00 pm.
Much focus by football fraternity will be to establish the team that finishes on second place being heavily contested by Azam and Simba.
Both sides have 66 points after 29 matches but Azam are currently on second and Simba third courtesy of goal difference.
In their today’s clash, Azam take on Geita Gold at Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita while Simba host JKT Tanzania at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Another area of concentration is on who will lift the golden boot as Feisal Salum (Azam) and Stephanie Aziz Ki (Young Africans) are tied on 18 goals apiece.
According to the new laws established by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), points will be used to determine who wins the top scorer’s prize in case the number of goals is the same at the end of the campaign.
Normal goals will earn 2 points while those scored through penalties will be awarded one point.
So far, Aziz Ki has three goals netted via spot-kicks whereas Feisal has one penalty goal.
In terms of relegation, only one team Mtibwa Sugar was already confirmed relegated in the 28th round of the season and today, another team that will join them (Mtibwa Sugar) will be produced.
