Shalulile urges Yanga unity in trophy hunt

DAR ES SALAAM: NAMIBIAN striker Peter Shalulile has called for unity among players and supporters as he begins a new chapter with Young Africans, insisting togetherness will be crucial to the club’s pursuit of silverware this season.

The experienced forward believes success cannot be achieved by the players alone and stressed that supporters have an equally important role to play in helping Yanga achieve their ambitions.

“We need to stay together if we want to win trophies,” Shalulile said. “Unity is very important, not only among the players but also among the supporters. When everyone pulls in the same direction, it becomes easier to achieve success.”

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker admitted joining Yanga was not an easy decision, with several clubs across the continent having been interested in signing him. However, he said the Tanzanian champions’ reputation, history and ambitions ultimately convinced him to move to the Tanzanian giants.

“There were many clubs that wanted me, but I decided to join a big club with a strong history and ambitious plans. Yanga is one of the biggest clubs in Africa, and I am happy to be here,” he added.

Yanga President, Engineer Hersi Said, said Shalulile’s arrival was a result of a carefully planned project aimed at taking the club to greater heights both domestically and in African competition.

“Shalulile’s signing did not happen by chance,” Hersi said. “We have a clear vision and a project focused on achieving more success.

He has proven himself in South African football, and we believe he can continue that journey with Yanga.”
