Sangu: Corporate support vital for education

RUKWA: MINISTER of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Employment and Youth), Mr Deus Sangu, has underscored the importance of partnerships between the private sector and communities in addressing development challenges, particularly in the education sector.

Mr Sangu made the remarks during the handover of more than 100 school desks worth 60m/-, donated by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC), to schools in Kwela Constituency, Rukwa Region.

The desks were secured through efforts by the Kwela Member of Parliament during his working tour of the constituency.

Addressing residents of Nankanga and Ilemba villages, Mr Sangu said the donation would help improve the learning environment for pupils.

“We have brought 20 desks to this station alone, which will immediately enable 60 pupils to study in a more conducive environment,” he said.

The minister thanked NBC Bank for responding to the constituency’s appeal, urging other corporate organisations to support community development initiatives.

“I sincerely appreciate NBC Bank for this generous contribution. Addressing such challenges reflects President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s call for leaders to work closely with communities in finding practical solutions,” he said.

The desks were distributed to Kalumbaleza, Msia, Ilemba and Nankanga primary schools, each receiving 20 desks, while Kimambo Primary School received 15 desks and Deus Sangu Secondary School received 30.

Mwadui Ward Councillor Mahmood Leonce Mgweno commended the initiative, saying the desks would significantly improve the learning environment for pupils.

A resident of Msia Village, Mr Thomas Nsandale, praised the MP’s efforts, expressing optimism that the partnership with NBC would attract more development support to the constituency.
