Samia’s legal aid campaign enhances justice delivery

ZANZIBAR: MINISTER of State in the President’s Office for Constitution, Legal Affairs, Public Service and Good Governance, Dr Haroun Ali Suleiman, has said that the Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign launched reached recently in the Isles, will help reach grassroots citizens and provide solutions to various disputes.

Dr Suleiman made the remarks while launching the ‘Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign’ for the North Unguja Region, during a ceremony held at the Mkwajuni Tumaini grounds. “Many members of society face a range of legal conflicts that require to be resolved, but their limited understanding of legal matters often prevents them from seeking justice,” the minister said.

He said that the campaign presents a valuable opportunity for citizens to gain legal awareness and improve access to justice.

Dr Suleiman also called on residents of North Unguja to turn out in large numbers for the campaign and seek justice in their legal disputes, thereby promoting a peaceful society.

Furthermore, the minister urged citizens with special needs to be at the forefront of using this campaign to fight for their rights, in order to promote equality in society and improve access to essential services.

The Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office for Constitution, Legal Affairs, Public Service and Good Governance, Ms Mansura Mossi Kassim, said that the aim of the campaign is to enhance access to justice in the country, a step that will help resolve various social disputes.

Meanwhile, North Unguja Regional Commissioner Mr Matar Zahor Masoud said the launch of the campaign in the region is a critical opportunity to address long-standing disputes, particularly land conflicts, which remain a serious issue.

He urged residents to take full advantage of the campaign as a means to resolve such disputes. The ‘Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign’ in North Unguja is expected to provide free legal services over a period of nine days.
