ARUSHA: THE government has urged residents of Arusha Region to take full advantage of the Samia Legal Aid Campaign to seek solutions to legal challenges requiring professional intervention.
The Deputy Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs, Jumanne Sagini, made the call over the weekend in Arusha while visiting various pavilions providing legal aid services under the ongoing campaign.
Mr Sagini commended the region’s preparations and the efficient system in place to ensure legal aid services reach as many people as possible across all districts.
He encouraged Arusha residents to attend in large numbers, emphasising that legal experts from the Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs, Tanganyika Law Society (TLS), the Government Bar Association, legal institutions and private lawyers were available to assist them.
“The aim of this campaign is to educate people on legal matters while providing free legal aid to those in need,” he said.
He noted that many people require legal aid and the coordinated efforts of legal professionals would ensure citizens receive quality services.
For residents in rural areas who may miss the services during the eightday campaign, the Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs will assess the situation and develop a strategy to extend legal aid services to all districts in Arusha Region.

The Samia Legal Aid Campaign was launched in April 2023 in Dodoma by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
Since its launch, the campaign has reached various prisons and jails across the country, providing legal assistance to prisoners and detainees.
In addition to representing citizens in courts, the legal team has been educating people on their rights and how to seek justice in cases of abuse.
Mr Sagini also praised Arusha Region’s leadership for their well-organised preparations ahead of the International Women’s Day celebrations, which will be nationally commemorated on March 8 in Arusha.
“I am very pleased to see the region’s commendable preparations. I congratulate the regional leaders, directors and the entire team for ensuring these vital legal aid services are provided effectively,” he said.
