BRASILIA: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated the national soccer team, Taifa Stars, for securing a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Tanzania qualified for the tournament on Tuesday after defeating visitors Guinea 1-0, courtesy of Simon Msuva’s 61st-minute header.
Morocco will host the Africa’s prestigious tournament.
Following the crucial win, President Samia took to social media to deliver a heartfelt congratulatory message to the team and urged the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), and the nation to prioritize thorough preparations for upcoming tournaments.

President Samia also praised the unwavering support of Tanzanians who rallied behind the team with love and enthusiasm.
On Tuesday evening, Taifa Stars joined Uganda and DR Congo as East African representatives for AFCON 2025.
A decisive second-half goal from Simon Msuva sealed Tanzania’s qualification for the tournament, set to take place in Morocco.
