Road carnage kills three in Morogoro

MOROGORO: THREE people have died after two exploded following a head-on collision involving a fuel tanker and truck at Nane Nane area, Morogoro Municipality, along the Morogoro – Dar es Salaam highway.
The Morogoro Regional Police Commander, Alex Mkama, confirmed the incident, stating that the accident occurred in the early hours of today, March 4, 2025.
According to reports, the accident involved a diesel tanker from Rwanda with registration number RL 6652 and another truck, a Scania with plate number T374 DLC. Upon impact, both vehicles burst into flames, resulting in the deaths of both drivers and one passenger.

“The Fire and Rescue Brigade, along with other security agencies, made significant efforts to extinguish the fire and prevent further damage,” said Commander Mkama.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by a truck driver traveling from Morogoro to Dar es Salaam who lost control of his vehicle and veered into the opposite lane. This led to a head-on collision with the fuel truck traveling from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Morogoro Regional Referral Hospital as further investigations continue.
