REA, Oryx gas promote clean cooking among prison employees

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Oryx Gas, in collaboration with the Rural Energy Agency (REA), has embarked on a major project that will see all prison employees stop using charcoal and firewood and shift to using gas.
The launch of the project took place today, July 1, 2025, in Bariadi District, Simiyu Region.
Through this initiative, Oryx Gas has made available 15kg gas cylinders, double-burner stoves, and their accessories at a significant discount, while REA has paid on behalf of the government for the officers and staff.
Speaking about the project, Mr Peter Ndomba, Manager of clean cooking projects from Oryx Gas Tanzania Ltd, said the company, in partnership with its main distributor in Simiyu Region, has provided a permanent discount for every officer who benefited from the project.
“When the gas cylinder runs out, it will be refilled at an affordable price. This discount also includes home delivery as soon as the gas is finished. The distribution of cylinders has been accompanied by training on the safe use of gas.
