RC sees timely completion of AFCON Stadium with over 60pc complete

ARUSHA: THE ongoing construction of the Arusha Stadium is reportedly going on steadily ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2027.

Arusha Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla, confirmed today, September 5, 2025, after inspecting the ongoing construction of the stadium in Olmot Ward, Arusha City.

The stadium, intended for use during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), is being constructed by the government for 340bn/-

The inspection followed a working session involving heads of departments and authorities responsible for water, energy, road, and communication infrastructure. During the meeting, it was resolved to form a technical task force made up of experts from those sectors, under the coordination of the Regional Commissioner’s Office. The team will be stationed on-site full-time to oversee the rapid deployment of supporting infrastructure under an emergency strategic plan.

“As the Arusha Region, we take pride in tourism. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has done two great things: The Royal Tour, which promoted tourism, and now she’s bringing us sports tourism. The presence of this stadium will increase financial circulation, boosting business growth and the economy both at the individual and regional levels,” said Makalla.
