RC demands total cooperation for census clerks

THE Geita Region Commissioner, Martin Shigella has ordered local government leaders to provide a conducive environment for censured enumerators while discharging their duties in the mining areas.

He made the statement while addressing government officials and census clerks who have stationed in Nyang’hwale district, Geita region.

He said, since the region has many areas of artisanal and small-scale miners, then it’s crucial to have a proper coordination that will enable all miners to be counted during the census day set for August 23 this year.

“All Village and Ward Executive Officers must make preparations in advance for the exercise to be carried out in a proper organized manner,” he instructed.

Mr Shigella also spoke of the importance of using clerks who are well conversant with their working stations, a move that will ease exercise being conducted for the sake of acquiring statistics to be used in development plans.

“So let’s involve the census agents who are in those areas, let’s involve the mining license holders, because many small scale miners work under the mining licenses held by few,” he added.

The RC went on to instruct all council directors to ensure all clerks are provided with their allowances on time for the counting exercise to be held effectively.
