DAR ES SALAAM: THE Public Relations Society of Tanzania (PRST) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the public relations profession in the country, recognising its crucial role in societal and institutional development.
PRST president, Mr Assah Mwambene, made this commitment during the PR and Communication Excellence Awards 2024, held recently in Dar es Salaam.
He expressed optimism about the future of public relations in Tanzania and emphasised the need to elevate the profession to the standards of other well-established fields.
He acknowledged the significant progress made and ongoing efforts to solidify PR’s role in the country’s communication landscape.
Mr Mwambene underscored the importance of professionalising the field, citing active discussions with the government to establish a formal professional board.
“We are in ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Information and have engaged extensively with the government. A template for the professional board of public relations has already been developed and we are optimistic that it will soon be officially recognised,” he said.
