MUSOMA: In an effort to enhance access to education in Musoma Rural Constituency, the Member of Parliament (MP), Prof. Sospeter Muhongo, has appealed for contributions to support the construction of new secondary schools in three villages.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to expand educational facilities in the constituency, which includes 21 wards and 68 villages.
Currently, the constituency is home to 26 ward-based secondary schools and two religious-affiliated secondary schools.
However, according to Prof Muhongo, there is still a gap in educational resources, prompting plans for the establishment of five new secondary schools in 2025, alongside seven others already under construction.
The former Energy and Minerals Minister, said the fundraising events aim to improve school infrastructure in order to provide quality education closer to rural communities, addressing the growing demand for secondary schooling.
Prof Muhongo said the fudnraisers will enable local residents and development partners to come together to raise funds and materials for the construction of schools.
According to the timetable of fundraisers relased by the Office of the Member of Parliament for Musoma Rural, the first event will take place on Tuesday at Nyambono Village, followed by Kataryo Village on Wednesday, and Musanja Village on Thursday.
Prof Muhongo stated that each of the three villages will receive a donation of 150 bags of cement, totaling 450 bags at a cost of 10,350,000/- through the Constituency Fund.
