MANYARA, Hanang: President Samia Suluhu Hassan arrived in Hanang District on Thursday to personally assess the extent of the mudslide disaster which so far claimed lives of nearly 70 people, leaving several injured and homeless.
The president’s visit began with a tour at the mudslide-devastated areas of Katesh township where she interacted with residents, gaining insight into the challenges they now face.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan, accompanied by key officials, also visited Tumaini District Hospital in Hanang where she met with the injured and later met with families now residing in temporary shelters.
The death toll from mudflows has risen to 69 and 1,150 households, which equates to 5,600 people have been affected.
