TWO suspected illegal fishermen with 980kg of fish have been arrested in Dar es Salaam as the Police Force, Tanzania Maritime Police (TMP) and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries join forces to crackdown culprits.
The suspects were arrested on 12th January, this year at Ferry Fish Market, according to Tanzania Maritime Police (TMP) Commander ACP Moshi Sokoro.
The Maritime Police boss said the duo has been linked to various criminal offences including conducting fishing activities along the Indian Ocean using explosives.
“The procedures to bring the suspects before the court of law are underway,” he stated.
He concluded his statement by warning that the Force will not hesitate to take action against anyone who engages in illegal fishing as well as other criminal offences.
