Police assure peaceful Eid

DODOMA: AS Muslim believers conclude the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Police Force has issued a comprehensive security assurance to the public ahead of the Eid El Fitr celebrations.

In a statement released yesterday by Police spokesperson DCP David Misime, authorities confirmed that strategic measures are in place to maintain peace and order nationwide.

The Force said that it is working in close coordination with leaders at national, regional and ward levels to secure designated prayer grounds and mosques.

Beyond religious sites, security will be heightened in high-traffic public areas where families and friends traditionally gather for festivities.

DCP Misime urged parents and guardians to exercise heightened vigilance, particularly regarding the safety of children.

He further advised against allowing minors to navigate public spaces without adult supervision, noting that such oversight is critical to preventing child abuse, road accidents and incidents of children becoming lost at crowded beaches or venues.

“The public is also reminded to ensure proper security arrangements at their homes if they need to travel, in order to prevent theft and other incidents,” he cautioned.

Furthermore, the Police Force issued a stern call for road safety, reminding motorists, pedestrians, and operators of animal-drawn carts to strictly adhere to traffic regulations.

Authorities stressed that observing road signs and laws is essential to preventing avoidable accidents during the high-volume travel period associated with the Eid holiday.

Eid El Fitr, often referred to as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is one of the two most important festivals in the Islamic calendar.

It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
