POEM OF THE DAY: Poem title: Let Me Be

Eyes on,
Looking at the beach.
It’s blue in colour
But is it really blue?

As I peer into a cup,
It’s not blue.
Was I told a lie?
Is it colourless?

Questions run,
But the truth remains:
I don’t know.
Perhaps you don’t know either.

Truth? I’m unsure.
But I don’t believe
What I once knew was false.
I believe it served a reason
That the ocean was said to be blue.

Who said it?
That’s not my concern.
But tell me, do you believe
Only because they said so?

Things are shaped
In ways we can’t always see.
Truth is not for all,
But for those who believe.

So, friend,
Don’t force me to believe what you do.
If I follow blindly,
I’m a fool,
A fool for your truth,
Or your misled path.

I will choose for myself.
Not because you say it’s blue —
Whether sky or sea,
Reflection or not.

Let me believe.
Let me choose.
Don’t make me follow
Because you said so.

Let me be.
