PM tasks envoy to promote foreign policy

DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has instructed the newly appointed Ambassador to Japan, Anderson Mutatembwa, to spearhead the implementation of the country’s foreign policy, focusing specifically on economic diplomacy.

Speaking at a meeting with Amb Mutatembwa at the Prime Minister’s Office in Mlimwa, Dodoma on Monday, Majaliwa instructed the envoy to promote investment opportunities and secure markets for Tanzanian products.

“It is your responsibility to highlight the opportunities available in Tanzania. Use our relationship with Japan effectively to attract investors across various sectors.”

“There are numerous economic opportunities we need to tap into, especially in areas that will bring significant benefits to our country. When you arrive there, plan to meet with investors. There are specific sectors where we need to capitalise,” Mr Majaliwa said.

Mr Majaliwa further instructed the envoy to work on connecting Tanzanians living in Japan with economic opportunities in Tanzania. He said that this would allow Tanzania to benefit from the contributions of its diaspora.
