PM orders speedy completion of the Kilosa Gate, access road to Mikumi National Park

MIKUMI: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has instructed the speedy completion of the Kilosa Gate and access road to Mikumi National Park to end challenges caused by the current shared-use road leading into the park.

The Premier issued the instructions during the launch of the new Mikumi Wildlife Lodge at Mikumi National Park on May 7, 2026,  stating that the improvements would ease transport access and boost tourism activities in the area.

Moreover, Dr Nchemba also tasked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) and other relevant institutions to use the opportunity to improve services and infrastructure in and around the park to enhance its tourism appeal.

Emphasizing on the matter, he said that the improved infrastructure is crucial in attracting more tourists and increasing the contribution of the tourism sector to the national economy.

The newly launched Mikumi Wildlife Lodge is expected to strengthen accommodation services for tourists visiting one of Tanzania’s key national parks.
