PM blesses construction of oxygen plant in Dar

DAR ES SALAAM: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed regulatory institutions to ensure that all locally produced goods, including healthcare products, meet the required quality standards to compete in international markets.

He issued this directive on March 20 after laying the foundation stone for the construction of an oxygen production plant for hospital use.

He emphasized that the market should only have safe, high-quality, and internationally accepted products.

“This initiative will improve the availability of oxygen in hospitals and health centers while reducing the cost of medical oxygen by 35 per cent nationwide. As a result, it will strengthen healthcare services for citizens,” said Majaliwa.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated that the project aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure easy access to medical oxygen in all healthcare facilities across the country.

“This project will significantly enhance the supply of oxygen in hospitals and dispensaries, reducing deaths caused by respiratory diseases. It will also lower maternal mortality rates and save the lives of children in this nation,” he emphasized.

On his part, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Godfrey Mollel highlighted the project’s importance, noting that the oxygen produced through this method will meet high-quality standards, thereby improving healthcare services and reducing fatalities.
