DAR ES SALAAM: THE sports landscape in Tanzania has reached a new milestone with the official establishment of Pentathlon Multi-Sport Tanzania (PMT).

This newly formed federation aims to promote modern Pentathlon and Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), fostering athleticism, teamwork and resilience across the nation.

According to one of the founders, Abdallah Chapa, the initiative has been met with enthusiasm from stakeholders in Dar es Salaam, with a growing community of athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts rallying behind the cause.

He stated that the finalisation of the founding members’ list is already underway and all interested individuals and organisations are encouraged to prepare for the exciting journey toward the federation’s official establishment.

Chapa also confirmed that the drafting of the federation’s constitution is in its final stages, laying the foundation for its governance.

“The document will continue to evolve as needed, ensuring it aligns with the goals and values of the sporting community,” he said.

The OCR Technical Officials of Pentathlon Multi-Sport Tanzania are actively reviewing the draft constitution.
Stakeholders are invited to examine and confirm their agreement with the draft before its official submission for registration.

“This step is crucial in securing official recognition under the Fédération Internationale de Sports Obstacles (FISO),” he noted.

The review process underscores the federation’s commitment to upholding international standards and fostering a structured and inclusive environment for the development of Pentathlon and OCR in Tanzania.

Chapa emphasised the federation’s dedication to ensuring a safe and supportive sports environment, free from intimidation, harassment and abuse.

“By adhering to ethical and professional standards, Pentathlon Multi-Sport Tanzania aims to create an inclusive space where athletes can thrive,” he stressed.
According to the draft constitution, the governance structure of the federation will include a president, vice – president and four board members, elected by congress for a four-year term among others.

Each board member may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms, reinforcing a dynamic and transparent leadership approach.

As Pentathlon Multi-Sport Tanzania embarks on its journey, all stakeholders are encouraged to participate in shaping the future of modern Pentathlon and OCR in the country.
