Pamba in bid to regain premiership status
SPORTS stakeholders in Mwanza Region have been asked to come forward to support the Pamba Jiji team to enable the region’s envoys achieve their goal to feature in the Premier League next season.
Pamba, who feature in the Championship League, begin their campaign to return to the top-flight league next month.
Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla made the call yesterday while speaking to the team’s players here at Nyamagana Stadium.
Makalla said to reach the desired goal of returning to the Premier League, unity is vital as the team has been already strengthened.
“I call upon all residents of Mwanza to support Pamba Jiji because this is their team now under our city council, unity is vital and everyone can contribute to boost the morale of our players in their bid to return to the Premier League,’’ he said.
He has asked players to ensure they fulfill their duties by working hard on the field while also prioritising discipline.
“We all believe the team is in safe hands, especially after strengthening the technical bench by recruiting Mbwana Makata who has vast experience in coaching Tanzanian teams,” the RC said.
On his side, Pamba Jiji coach, Mbwana Makata said he will work hard to ensure the team earns Premier League promotion.
“The team currently has a mixture of Mwanza-based players and some from outside the region. We continue to train and play in order to create a strong team that will be able to compete effectively in the Championship League,” he said.
Additionally, Pamba Jiji skipper, Jerryson Tegete has noted that they are relieved to be visited by the regional commissioner and he promised, on behalf of the players, that they won’t let him down.
The RC also provided 1m/- to players as a motivation.
