O’Rourke triumphs at Sea Cliff April Golf Challenge

ZANZIBAR: PATRICK O’Rourke clinched victory at the Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Zanzibar April Golf Challenge, winning on countback after carding 37 points in a tightly contested competition over the weekend.
The 18-hole Stableford event, played across the fairways, rough and bunkers overlooking the Indian Ocean, attracted a strong field of golfers and produced closely fought results throughout.
O’Rourke finished level on 37 points with club captain Tarzio Bercelli but was declared winner on countback, pushing Bercelli into second place. Greg Eayrs secured third position with 32 points, also decided on countback.
Special prizes added further excitement to the day, with Grey Eayrs winning the longest drive on hole five, while Josh Jay claimed nearest-to-the-pin honours on hole one.
Club manager Sophie Nyanjera confirmed the event was successfully staged and praised the level of participation and competition.

Nyanjera noted that the monthly challenge forms part of activities marking the 62nd anniversary of the Tanzania Golf Union, adding that the club continues to attract golfers seeking both competitive play and social engagement in Zanzibar.
In a related event last month, Andrew Chung delivered a standout performance, winning with an impressive 41 Stableford points and also securing the nearest-to-the-pin prize on hole nine.
Preparations are now under way for the May Challenge, which will be hosted at the same course later this month.
