Opah joins China Super league side

HENAN,CHINA: TANZANIAN international woman footballer, Opah Clement, formerly of Simba Queens, has signed with Henan Women FC, a team competing in the China Women’s Super League.

Opah joins Henan from Turkish side Beşiktaş.

Before her time with Beşiktaş, she played for Kayseri and Beşiktaş in Turkey.

During the 2021/22 season with Kayseri Women, Opah made five appearances and scored five goals, which earned her a move to Beşiktaş.

At Beşiktaş, she excelled, scoring twelve goals in ten matches during the 2023/24 Turkcell Women’s Football League season.

Currently, Henan Women FC is struggling in the league, sitting in 11th place with 13 matches played. The team has yet to secure a win, recording six losses and seven draws.

They have scored eight goals while conceding 21. Opah Clement is the second Tanzanian female footballer to secure a transfer during this window.

Aisha Masaka recently joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Swedish club BK Häcken.

Aisha had previously made an impact at Yanga Princess before moving to BK Häcken in March 2022.

At Brighton, Aisha is expected to strengthen the attacking lineup as the team aims to improve from their ninth-place finish from last season, where they scored 26 goals but conceded 48.

Opah Clement joins a small group of Tanzanian women professional footballers who have moved outside Africa, alongside Clara Luvanga, who plays for Al Nassr Women FC in Saudi Arabia and Aisha Masaka with Brighton Women FC in England.

In another development, Simba Queens, the Tanzanian Women’s Premier League (TWPL) champions, have announced the signing of Nigerian attacking midfielder Precious Christopher.

The former Yanga Princess player initially featured for Nigeria’s Rivers Angels FC.
