DODOMA: THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has made great strides during the past four years of President Samia Suluhu Hassan in office, recording a remarkable 92 per cent growth in its liquidity which surged to 9.2tri/- in February 2025, up from 4.8tri/- during the corresponding period in 2021.
NSSF Director General, Mr Masha Mshomba, revealed this development yesterday while addressing the media on the Fund’s progress under President Samia’s leadership.
Mr Mshomba attributed the increase in liquidity to an increase in the numbers of members, a rise that has equally contributed to revenues, and the successful performance of the Fund’s investments.
“This growth reflects the strength and resilience of our strategies and the commitment of our members,” Mr Mshomba said.
He revealed that the Fund had significantly improved its collections efforts, bringing in a total of 6.9tri/- from members over the same period.
Annual contributions alone rose by 90 per cent, climbing to 2.15tri/- by February 2025, up from 1.13tri/- in February 2021.
Despite the impressive growth, Mr Mshomba noted that the Fund’s sustainability level stands at 90.7 per cent according to the latest life and sustainability evaluation, conducted up to June 2023.
“As we saw during his funeral, people were overwhelmed with sorrow; some even fainted in honour of a leader who had touched their lives in many ways,” he said.
He praised Dr Magufuli as a hardworking leader who, in every government position—including as Member of Parliament (MP) and minister—earned accolades from his colleagues.
