NMB client base grows by over 560 pc
NMB Bank’s client base has grown by over 560 per cent to more than 4 million customers, thanks to the lender’s concerted efforts in using innovative digital ways to reach the more unbanked population
“At NMB, the customer and financial inclusion are at the centre of everything we do. We provide affordable financial services to over 4 million customers in the country,” NMB Chief of Retail Banking, Mr Filbert Mponzi said recently at an award ceremony where the bank grabbed the best retail bank award.
Official numbers show that the bank’s customer base has ballooned to over four million customers, which is an increase of more than 566 per cent from about 600,000 clients in 1997.
He said the bank is committed to empowering its customers and serving the whole country at large with advanced banking services.
Mr Mponzi said NMB’s initiatives and partnerships not only positively impact communities where it does business but also make the market trust the bank.
Airing their views recently to mark this season’s edition of Customer Service Week, some customers said the bank was locally unrivalled in terms innovative services it provides to them.
“To us, the Customer Service Week this year is mostly about recognising the NMB Bank success story, as reflected by its financial might and sound operational performance over the years,” Mlimani City NMB Branch Customer Leader, Shillah Mbogo noted.
In Babati district of Manyara region, NMB clients said the bank has become the most successful financial institution in the country largely due to the trust it commands in the market. That credential is proved by its over four million customers, who make it rank number one in the sector.
“I have been a loyal customer of NMB since 2012 and have grown with it. When I started borrowing from them, I was eligible for only 10m/-but today I qualify for up to 150m,/-” Ms Lydia Yahani Kasaini of Lemmy Enterprises in Babati said.
The chairperson of owners of general enterprises (MSMEs) in Manyara region, Mr Ali Said Msuya, spoke highly of NMB’s profitability and part of the net income devoted to corporate philanthropy.
As a celebration of the customer service week, the bank through the Head of Corporate Support, Mr Valence Mtongole handled over iron sheets worth more than 22m/- to support the building of schools and dispensaries in the region.
“Customer service celebrations are essential since we use this opportunity to meet our customers but also it’s the right opportunity to get their feedback on our services,” he said.
He also handed over a total of 100 chairs and tables for schools in the Ngorongoro District as a sign of celebrating customer service from the Bank.
