Nine leaders to appear before Ethics Tribunal tomorrow

DODOMA: NINE public leaders are set to appear before the Ethics Tribunal tomorrow over allegations of breaching public leadership ethics, including failure to submit a declaration of assets and liabilities to the Ethics Commissioner.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Ethics Commissioner Judge (Retired) Sivangilwa Mwangesi, the leaders have been summoned before the tribunal for a thorough investigation into the allegations leveled against them.

The officials expected to appear include Mbogwe District Commissioner in Geita Region, Sakina Mohamed; Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) Manager for Kaliua District in Tabora Region, Idefonce Columba; Puge Primary Court Magistrate in Tabora Region, Cleophas Mziray; and Arusha District Administrative Secretary, Jacob Rombo.

Others are Assistant Registrar of Titles in Tanga Region, Mwajuma Kihiyo; Chairman of the Land and Housing Tribunal in Korogwe District Council, Edward Mhina; Mtimbwani Ward Councilor in Mkinga District Council, Mwandei Mohamed; Mayomboni Ward Councilor in Mkinga District, Mussa Jangwa; and Kolero Ward Councilor in Morogoro Rural District Council, Eligius Mbena.

The statement further noted that the Ethics Secretariat has lodged complaints with the Ethics Tribunal regarding various breaches of leadership ethics, with the leaders expected to provide explanations on the allegations against them.

Meanwhile, the tribunal is scheduled to conduct a detailed inquiry into the complaints on March 27 and 28, 2025, at the Ethics Secretariat offices in Dodoma.
