Ndumbaro lifts lid on Pamoja Bid success

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, Damas Ndumbaro named the availability of superior and friendly infrastructure in three East African neighbours; Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda played a big role in the success of the Pamoja Bid to co-host Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2027.
Speaking in a press conference at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Ndumbaro said Pamoja Bid’s success was also buoyed by a 90m US Dollar- bond(225.8bn/-) injected by the three countries to facilitate hosting the finals in the three countries.
He said each country in the Pamoja Bid has to inject 30m US Dollars (75.2bn/-) and this assurance helped the three countries to win the bid. “We have to thank the presidents of the three East African neighbours and national sports councils of the three countries who held several meetings in Dar es Salaam for strategies to ensure Pamoja Bid reached its desired goal,” he pointed.
Ndumbaro thanked his predecessors; Innocent Bashungwa, Mohamed Mchengerwa and Pindi Chana who initiated the 2027 AFCON bid.
The Minister also lauded the motivation from Simba whose impressive performance in the CAF-governed competitions heightened the top-flight position and contributed to Tanzania being among five best leagues in Africa.
He said the stellar performance of the teams brought fortune to Tanzania and CAF honoured it by staging the opening match of the African Super League between Simba and Al Ahly at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
