Ndejembi pledges cooperation to advance development

KILIMANJARO: VICE-PRESIDENT Deogratius Ndejembi has pledged to work closely with leaders and citizens in advancing national development, assuring Tanzanians that he will carry out his new responsibilities with integrity, diligence and dedication.

Mr Ndejembi made the pledge yesterday while greeting residents of Mbuyuni in Moshi District, Kilimanjaro Region, during a personal visit to the area.

He said strong cooperation between leaders and citizens was essential to translating the Government’s development agenda into tangible improvements in people’s lives and ensuring effective delivery of public services.

“I will continue to discharge my responsibilities with integrity, diligence and dedication, and I am ready to work together with leaders and citizens,” he said.

The Vice-President also appealed to Tanzanians to continue praying for President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and himself, saying their prayers would provide the wisdom and guidance needed to serve the country effectively.

“I ask you to continue praying for President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and also for me so that we can fulfil our responsibilities effectively,” he said.

Mr Ndejembi further reaffirmed his loyalty to President Samia, saying he would support her leadership and implement her directives in accordance with the constitutional responsibilities of the Vice-President.

He also stressed the importance of unity among leaders, recalling his remarks shortly after taking the oath of office at Chamwino, Dodoma, when he pledged to work harmoniously with the President and other leaders.

“I will not cause problems for either the public or President Samia,” he said.

The Vice-President said the commitment he expressed in Moshi was consistent with his earlier pledge to serve with humility, loyalty and dedication as he assumes his new national responsibilities.

Mr Ndejembi was appointed Vice-President after President Samia nominated him to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Vice-President Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi. His nomination was subsequently approved by the National Assembly before he was sworn into office at State House, Chamwino, Dodoma.

Before his appointment, Mr Ndejembi served as Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Chamwino Constituency.

At Mbuyuni, he thanked residents for the warm welcome, saying the reception underscored the importance of maintaining a strong connection between leaders and the people they serve.

Earlier, Mr Ndejembi arrived at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where he was received by Government and religious leaders, together with members of the Kilimanjaro Regional Defence and Security Committee.
