Namungo face Simba test

RUANGWA: SIMBA SC will take on Namungo FC in a Mainland Premier League clash today at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, with the visitors determined to extend their long-standing dominance over the hosts.
The Reds head into the encounter firmly in second place on the league table, having collected 39 points from 18 matches.
They face a Namungo side sitting 10th with 22 points from the same number of games, a gap that highlights the contrasting fortunes of the two teams this season.
History heavily favours Simba in this fixture. In 13 previous meetings, Simba have secured eight wins, while the remaining five ended in draws.
Namungo are still searching for their first-ever victory against the Dar es Salaam giants, underlining the magnitude of the challenge before them.
The goal tally further underlines Simbaโs superiority. The Reds have scored 27 goals in these encounters, compared to Namungoโs nine, reflecting a clear attacking advantage.
That dominance was evident in their first meeting earlier this season, when Simba cruised to a 3โ0 victory in Dar es Salaam in October 2025, with Namungo failing to get on the scoresheet.
Recent head-to-head results tell a similar story. Simba recorded 3โ0 wins in October 2025, February 2025 and October 2024, while Namungoโs strongest performances yielded draws; 2โ2 in April 2024 and 1โ1 in November 2023.
Current form also tilts the scales in Simbaโs favour. The Reds are unbeaten in their last five matches, with three wins and two draws, showing consistency and confidence. In contrast, Namungo have struggled for momentum, managing just one victory in their last five outings.
Despite the advantage of playing at home, Namungo will need a marked improvement, particularly in attack, where they have consistently struggled to break down Simbaโs defence, if they are to challenge the league heavyweights.
