Mwinyi thanks Oman for supporting Zanzibar

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has expressed gratitude to the government of Oman for its continued support towards the islands’ development efforts.
Dr Mwinyi extended the gratitude on Tuesday during an iftar hosted by the Omani Consul in Zanzibar, Sheikh Said Salim Al-Sinawiy, at Golden Tulip Zanzibar Airport in the Urban West Region.
The President said Oman and Zanzibar share strong historical and brotherly relations, noting that the support provided in various sectors has significantly contributed to the development of the islands.
He highlighted cooperation in areas such as education, tourism, cultural development and the preservation of the heritage of Stone Town, saying the initiatives have played an important role in promoting Zanzibar’s growth.
Dr Mwinyi also assured Oman that Zanzibar will continue strengthening the longstanding cooperation between the two sides.
During the event, the President called on Muslims and citizens in general to continue praying for the country and the world to promote peace and prevent disasters and conflicts among nations.
He also thanked the Omani Consul for maintaining the tradition of hosting the annual Ramadan iftar, describing it as an initiative that brings people together and strengthens unity and friendship.
For his part, Sheikh AlSinawiy said that Oman will remain an important partner in Zanzibar’s development. He also commended President Mwinyi for his leadership, which he said has contributed to significant progress on the islands.

The Omani envoy pledged continued cooperation in sectors including tourism, education, the blue economy, cultural heritage and the conservation of Stone Town.
President Mwinyi has been hosting a series of community iftar gatherings with residents in different regions of Zanzibar during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr Mwinyi recently joined residents from the Urban West Region and North Unguja Region for communal iftar events held at Idriss Abdulwakil Hall and the Vocational Training Institute Mkokotoni.
The gatherings were attended by leaders from the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, religious leaders and members of the Muslim community.
Dr Mwinyi thanked the residents who attended the events, which brought together people from different social groups including persons with disabilities, widows, orphans, Shehas, madrasa teachers and imams from North Unguja.
