Mwinyi pushes firms to chase global markets

DAR ES SALAAM: ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi has challenged Tanzanian businesses to look beyond the domestic market and pursue opportunities abroad to increase exports and strengthen economic growth.

He said opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and China’s zero-tariff market access initiative could open new doors for Tanzanian producers if businesses improve quality, competitiveness and production capacity.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba), Dr. Mwinyi urged traders and manufacturers to take advantage of emerging markets and government initiatives aimed at expanding trade.

He said the government would continue improving the business environment through effective policies, transparency, and accountability to support private sector growth.

He tasked TANTRADE with identifying new export destinations and strengthening support for companies seeking international markets.

Dr Mwinyi commended exhibitors, organisers, and stakeholders for successfully hosting the 50th Sabasaba Trade Fair, saying the event demonstrated Tanzania’s potential as a trade and investment destination.
