Mwinyi leads Tanzania delegation to 65th NAM Summit

BELGRADE: ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi has arrived in Belgrade to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at a special high-level summit marking 65 years since the first Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit.

Dr Mwinyi arrived in the Serbian capital on Sunday, August 30, 2026, leading a Tanzanian delegation that included the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo and other senior government officials.

The meeting brings together leaders and representatives to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the first NAM Summit and reflect on the movement’s role in advancing the interests of developing countries.

Upon arrival at Nikola Tesla International Airport, Dr Mwinyi was received by Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Ms Adrijana Mesarović.

He was also received by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Italy, who is concurrently accredited to Serbia, Ambassador Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk.
