Mwinyi appeals for cooperation to strengthen CCM

CCM's Vice-Chairman (Zanzibar) Dr Hussein Ally Mwinyi

CCM’s Vice-Chairman (Zanzibar) Dr Hussein Ally Mwinyi has urged the newly elected leaders of the party to cooperate in building and strengthening the organisation for the benefit of Tanzanians.

“A large number of members showed up to run for leadership positions, indicating that CCM has members who are capable of managing and building the party… so those of us, who have been given leadership positions should be ready to cooperate in building and strengthening the party,” Dr Mwinyi pointed out.

Dr Mwinyi made the remarks yesterday during  the second day of the 10th CCM National Congress held at Jakaya Kikwete Convention Center (JKCC) in Dodoma.

He said the CCM’s elected leaders are the winning team in the 2025 election, so they must organise themselves from now, because the election is a preparation for the coming victory.

“Let’s make sure CCM fulfills its election promises for the remaining time until 2025, and continue to meet expectations of the Tanzanians so that they can elect us again in the next general election,” Dr Mwinyi said.

He declared that being CCM’s vice chairman for Zanzibar, he is determined to make great efforts in the performance of the party with the aim of bringing efficiency to the organisation.

In his address, he noted that the party has a lot of resources but it has yet to successfully use the resources to strengthen the party economically and reduce its dependency totally.

“The new line-up of leadership should know that we have been trusted by the members of the party, so we should know that we have the task of strengthening the party economically by working hard,” he insisted

In a related development, he congratulated President Samia Suluhu Hassan for the efforts to open up the country, something which has enabled the government to get more support from development partners.

Equally, he commended the Prime Minister, who is also a  member of the CCM Central Committee, Kassim Majaliwa and Zanzibar Second Vice-President Mr Hemed Suleiman Abdulla for presenting report on the implementation of the CCM’s 2020-2025 election manifestos.

He said the report revealed a huge success in the implementation of CCM manifestos within a short period of time, including maintaining country’s peace and unity, which is the foundation for progress in all aspects of the economy.

“The report shows the growth of the country’s economy through the increased taxes collected as revenues from investments, business, tourism activities among others,” he underlined

On the other hand, Dr Mwinyi said the success was as a result of the government’s focus on strengthening the control on spending of the public funds, strengthening revenue collection systems and strengthening the investment system, which go hand in hand with economic diplomacy.

On his part, CCM’s Vice-Chairman (Mainland), Abdulrahman Kinana assured the members of CCM of excellent performance during his leadership, adding that the votes he got were guarantee CCM’s victory.

“I promise you that I will do my best to fulfill my duties in response to the trust you have on me through the votes you have gave me,” he said.

He added that Tanzanians have a lot of trust on CCM as the ruling party which brings development to the people, saying CCM’s work is to listen to the people and solve their problems by implementing various development projects.

Speaking earlier, Zanzibar’s Second Vice-President Abdulla explained that the economy of Zanzibar has grown by 5.1 per cent in 2020, adding that the economy of Zanzibar grows day-by-day and achieves the goals set by CCM in bringing development to the people.

“In the investment sector, the government already signed 181 projects worth 3.056 billion US dollars in two years and still continues with special investment efforts in 16 small Islands with a value of 377.5 million US dollars,” he said.

In ensuring that the citizens get clean and safe water, the Zanzibar government succeeded in distributing water infrastructures in 342 Shehia out of 388 in two years (estimated as 88 per cent) of water projects implemented.

He further noted that Zanzibar Revolution Government in collaboration with the union government resolved 14 union matters and continues to work on the remaining four matters which are expected to be resolved in a short time.
