Mwananyamala Hospital inaugurates allergy, hormone testing services

DAR ES SALAAM: MWANANYAMALA Regional Referral Hospital in Dar es Salaam has officially launched specialized medical services for allergy and hormone testing, marking a significant step in improving healthcare delivery through the use of modern technology.

According to a statement released by the hospital, the allergy tests cover a wide range of potential allergens that can trigger reactions in humans. These include domestic animals such as cats and dogs, various types of insects, foods, medications, as well as pollen and certain fruits.

Additionally, the hospital now offers hormone testing services for both men and women. These include tests for female and male hormones, thyroid (goiter), prostate, and specific heart-related proteins.

The initiative aims to provide affordable access to advanced diagnostic services for a broader section of the population, while also reducing unnecessary referrals to higher-level hospitals. The service is part of a broader strategy to strengthen specialized healthcare at the regional level through collaboration with various health sector stakeholders.

Currently, the hospital is also conducting public awareness campaigns to educate the community on the importance of allergy and hormone testing, particularly for individuals experiencing unexplained symptoms such as recurring skin rashes, breathing problems, or emotional changes related to hormonal imbalances.
