Museveni: “We can’t make furniture, what sort of experts are we? Experts of ignorance?

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni expresses his dissatisfaction over the tendency of failure to effectively utilize available resources and queries “what sort of experts are we? Experts of ignorance?”

A tweet by the State House of Uganda @StateHouseUg quotes the irked Head of State saying they cannot make a computer, plane or medicine but furniture is being imported from Arabs who are staying in the desert.

“How can we sit on imported furniture here?” reads the tweet without elaborations of the context of Museveni’s speech.

“We are here buying furniture from the Arabs who stay in the desert. How can we sit on imported furniture here? We cannot make a plane, a computer, or medicine, we can’t even make furniture, what sort of experts are we? experts of ignorance?” reads the full text tweeted by the State House.

Museveni was among African leaders who attended the concluded second Russia-African Summit in St Petersburg, Russia.

At the event, President Museveni met Africa’s Peace Committee on the Ukraine Crisis.

While he was in Eastern Europe, the Head of State made a two-day official visit to Serbia where he officially opened a Uganda Trade Hub known as Uganda Connect Belgrade.

He thanked his host, President Aleksandar Vucic and his government for giving Uganda a chance to promote her exports in the European country.

“There’s some amount of drinking coffee in Serbia and in this part of the world; Russia and other places so we want to promote our coffee to come here processed. They have agreed to buy our processed coffee.

“I want to inform you that as Uganda we have started to open doors for our exports. Unlike some Western powers who want to buy our raw materials, Serbia has allowed, and they are ready to buy our processed goods such as coffee, clothes, food and leather among others,” reads Yoweri K. website www.yowerikmuseveni.com
