MUHAS set to construct integrated sports centre

DAR ES SALAAM: MUHIMBILI University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) Muhimbili campus is set to build a sports centre to encourage exercise in the community.

The MUHAS Vice Chancellor, Professor Apolinary Kamuhabwa said over the weekend during the Reunion Fun Run marathon at the Muhimbili grounds that construction of the sports centre is expected to start next year.

“The marathon aimed to raise funds to build a sports centre on the Muhimbili campus in Dar es Salaam. We all need a sports centre for the employees of the Muhimbili Hospital, the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI), the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute (JKCI), Ocean Road Cancer Institute, students of MUHAS and staff of the college, citizens of Dar es Salaam and patients who will be better and those who need exercise,” he said.

The Director of Preventive Health Services from the Ministry of Health, Ntuli Kapologwe has hailed MUHAS for the plan on the table to build a sport centre.

“MUHAS project goes in line with Mtu ni Afya campaign which advocates physical exercise for their wellbeing,” he said.
