The DC also underscored the significance of engaging the public through various platforms such as ‘Vox pops’ to gather community perspectives and promote civic involvement, particularly in voter registration, voting and candidacy.

Additionally, he highlighted the essential partnership between the media and government in broadcasting the achievements of the current administration under President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

“Information is power and without media involvement, our progress may go unnoticed. Let us use the media as a vital communication tool,” DC Mwaipaya remarked.

He further added, “Our President is working hard across many areas, but if we fail to share her achievements through the media, they may not be recognised.”

Mtwara-Mikindani Municipal Council Executive Director, Mwalimu Hassan Nyange, provided an update on election preparations, noting that 111 streets are set to participate in the Mtwara Municipal Council elections. He mentioned that community meetings, radio programmes, concerts and a motivational song have been organised to encourage voter participation.

He said all necessary equipment is in place and thorough checks have been completed on village and township boundaries. He urged stakeholders to encourage broad participation across the 96 villages and streets within the district to ensure a successful electoral process.
