Mtibwa Sugar tops Championship League as promotion race heats up

MOROGORO: THE Championship League is reaching a fever-pitch as Mtibwa Sugar continue to assert their dominance at the top of the table, with an impressive 35 points from 14 matches. Their record of 11 wins, 2 draws and just a single loss has made them the team to beat this season.
Mtibwa’s outstanding form is driven by their strong desire to return to the Mainland Premier League after falling short last year.
They are demonstrating the kind of consistency that could see them achieve their goal of securing promotion to Tanzania’s top division.
Close behind is Mbeya City placed second with 31 points followed by Geita Gold in third place with 30 points. The race for promotion is intensifying, with Stand United in fourth place with 29 points and TMA closely trailing in fifth with 27 points.
In sixth place, Mbeya Kwanza has 24 points, while Songea United from Ruvuma is pushing for a higher position with 23 points.

The fight for survival is just as tense in the lower half of the table, with African Sports and Cosmopolitan tied on eight points.
However, African Sports have a slight edge, thanks to a superior goal difference. At the bottom, Transit Camp and Kiluvya United are both struggling in 14th place with seven points while Biashara United are in deep trouble, sitting at the very bottom with just a point.
With the race for both promotion and survival heating up, fans can expect more drama as the season unfolds.
