Mtibwa Sugar lead charge in Championship League

MOROGORO: MTIBWA Sugar are firmly at the top of the 2024/25 Championship League standings, commanding 44 points from 17 matches.

They hold an 8-point advantage over second-placed Geita Gold, who have accumulated 36 points from the same number of games.

The battle for promotion remains tight, with Mbeya City and Stand United both on 35 points, sitting just one point behind Geita Gold.

The difference between the top four sides is razor-thin, with every point crucial as the season progresses. Mtibwa Sugar’s impressive form, featuring 14 wins, two draws and a defeat, has made them at top for months.

Their defence has been outstanding, conceding just seven goals, a key factor in their dominance. With such a strong record, they look poised to challenge for promotion.

Geita Gold will be aiming to reduce the eight-point gap to Mtibwa Sugar in the upcoming fixtures. Mbeya City, sitting third with 35 points and Stand United, who are also on 35 points, are not far behind.

These two sides, along with TMA and Mbeya Kwanza, are vying for a top-four finish, making each remaining match critical to their aspirations.

At the opposite end of the table, Biashara United are in serious trouble, having earned only 2 points from 17 matches.
