Msuva signs one-year deal with Iraqi club

BAGHDAD: FORMER Young Africans star, Simon Msuva, has joined Iraqi Premier League side Al-Talaba on a one-year contract.

Msuva, who recently confirmed the move, is currently finalising his travel documents and expects to link up with his new team in the near future.

In a media statement, Msuva shared his excitement about the transfer, noting: “I am in the process of arranging my visa as I prepare to join Al-Talaba in Iraq. I have signed a one-year deal and will be heading to Iraq and begin a new journey.”

As he remarked on his new career chapter, Msuva assured fans of his ongoing commitment with the national team.

“Tanzanians can look forward to watching me play with my new club. As for the national team, I remain available for future matches. There are many games ahead, so let’s rally behind the selected players and maintain our national pride. This is about supporting our country, not just focusing on a club,” Msuva emphasised.

He also addressed concerns regarding his absence from the current squad and some players not being selected, one of the missing being Mbwana Samatta.

“Even if some of us are not in the current lineup, it does not diminish our support. The players chosen by the Interim Coach Hemed Suleimani deserve and I commend them for their performance in the recent goalless draw against Ethiopia,” Msuva said.

His move to Al-Talaba follows a previous stint with Saudi Arabian club Al-Najma, after leaving JS Kabylie in August of the previous year.
