DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC’s recent acquisition, Elie Mpanzu, is expected to significantly bolster the team’s attacking prowess. The Congolese winger, signed from AS Vita Club in September, is poised to make a substantial impact under the guidance of head coach Fadlu Davids.
Davids has high hopes for Mpanzu, anticipating that he will not only score goals but also create opportunities for his teammates. While Mpanzu is yet to make his competitive debut, the coach anticipates the Congolese winger will feature next month.
In the meantime, Mpanzu is set to integrate with the squad and build chemistry with his teammates through upcoming friendly matches. “We expect him to contribute goals, assists and seamlessly fit into our playing style,” said Davids.
“Mpanzu is a key player for us and everyone must strive to uphold the honour of wearing the Simba jersey.
” The coach emphasised the importance of Mpanzu understanding his role within the team’s tactical framework. “It’s crucial for him to adapt to our game plan, both offensively and defensively,” Davids explained.
“He needs to know his positioning, when to attack and when to defend.” While adapting to a new team can be challenging, Davids is confident that Mpanzu’s talent and dedication will enable him to make a quick impact.
The winger’s ability to create scoring opportunities and compete for a starting position will add depth and quality to Simba’s attack.
In addition to these tactical discussions, Davids confirmed that their meetings with Mpanzu have also focused on Simba’s strategic approach against opponents, ensuring that Mpanzu is well-versed in both the defensive and offensive systems the team employs during matches.

“What remains now is for Mpanzu to put in the work and adapt to our system. With time and through these friendly matches, he will become more familiar with our style of play,” Davids added.
Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new team, the coach expressed confidence in Mpanzu’s potential to make an immediate impact—particularly in contributing to the team’s offensive play, creating opportunities, and fostering healthy competition within the squad.
