Morogoro reaps fortune from Samia tour

MOROGORO: The presidential candidate for the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has pledged to allocate 2.6bn/- in loans to benefit 8,320 women, youth, and people with disabilities to help them increase their capital and boost their economic livelihoods.

The pledge was made today, August 29, 2025, as Dr. Samia addressed a general election campaign rally in Ngerengere Village, located in Morogoro Region.

Speaking to the residents, Dr. Samia acknowledged the progress achieved during her leadership but emphasized that challenges still remain in the region — particularly a shortage of adequate water projects. She attributed the issue to environmental degradation, including widespread deforestation. In response, she committed that, over the next five years, her administration will prioritize water access and complete ongoing water projects. She also urged the residents to stop indiscriminate tree-cutting and to take responsibility for protecting the environment.

Regarding infrastructure, Dr. Samia addressed the condition of the Bigwa–Mvuha–Kisaki road, which connects various areas to the district council headquarters. She noted that this road — which has long been advocated for by Morogoro Rural MP Hamis Taletale — will be completed within the next five years.

On healthcare, she announced plans to build two new health centers, establish seven dispensaries, and complete construction of four more that are currently underway. She also stressed the importance of promoting community participation in health insurance services to ensure the well-being of citizens.

Additionally, Dr. Samia pledged the construction of three new crop storage warehouses and further development in the production and distribution of seedlings for key cash crops, including cloves, palm oil, cashew nuts, and avocado trees. These efforts aim to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve farmer productivity.

In closing her speech, Dr. Samia urged the people of Morogoro to turn out in large numbers on election day and vote for all CCM candidates to continue the country’s development and address the remaining challenges.
