MOI serves 77,000 patients in four months

DAR ES SALAAM: 77,147 patients have been attended to and received medical care at Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) from February to May 2025,

The report released today, June 21, 2025, said out of them, 73,887 were outpatients and 3,262 were inpatients.

The statement revealed to the media by the institution’s official,  Patrick  Mvungi, said that in the period, 2,300 patients attended special operations, while 984 patients received emergency operations, and 2,046 had normal operations.

“MOI continues to carry out its usual duties of giving better treatment and services to all Tanzanian citizens and those from neighbouring countries,” he said.

Adding, he said the number of patients who received radiology examinations in that period reached 28,030 people, and the examinations include X-ray, CT-San, MRI, and other radiology services.

Mvungi explained that in that period total of 26 patients received operations after conducting examination of blood vessels in the brain without opening the skull (Angio Suit).

Also, Mvungi said 1,299 patients were attended at MOI Clinic for Premier and International Patients’ services and  813 were given treatment forgiveness.

He  MOI continues to implement the strategic project of the new outpatient department (New OPD) and the X-Tumaini project which enables MOI to provide services to more than 1,500 patients per day, compared to the 500-700 currently receiving services.
