Miss Tanzania ready for India’s pageant trip

TANZANIA: MISS Tanzania 2022, Halima Kopwe is ready for her trip to India, where she will represent the country in the Miss World beauty pageant.

Halima is expected to jet off to New Delhi, India in February next year for the Miss World event that is scheduled to be staged at Yashobhoomi on March 2, 2024.

As part of preparations, Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has entered into a contract with The Look Company Limited to sponsor Miss Tanzania 2022 Halima’s trip to the South Asian country for the competition.

ATCL Managing Director, Engineer Ladislaus Matindi unveiled that in a statement released on Tuesday, saying that the national carrier airline has its commitment to support initiatives of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports in promoting youth talents.

As a part of the sponsorship, Miss Tanzania Halima will be provided with a business-class flight ticket from Dar es Salaam to Mumbai, India, where the Miss World 2023 competition will be staged.

Engineer Matindi highlighted that the collaboration reflects ATCL’s dedication to showcasing the unique services offered by Africa’s loved airline that has received various awards, both within and outside the country for two consecutive years.

The company is optimistic that the partnership will not only boost Halima’s morale during the competition, but also inspire more youths in Tanzania to pursue their dreams.

Halima who was crowned Miss Tanzania 2022 on May 20, 2022, in Dar es Salaam, has been preparing to represent Tanzania in the Miss World 2023 competition in India.

The statement further emphasised that beyond promoting Tanzania’s tourist attractions, Miss Tanzania will serve as an ambassador for ATCL at the Miss World 2024 beauty pageant competition.

The competition was established in 1951 in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley, the oldest existing international beauty pageant. Julia Morley, Eric Morley’s widow, has co-chaired the pageant since he died in 2000.

The current Miss World is Karolina Bielawska of Poland, who was crowned on March 16, 2022, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
