Minister Masauni urges youths to tap Union opportunities

ZANZIBAR: MINISTER of State in the Vice-President’s Office (Union and Environment), Engineer Hamad Masauni, has urged young people to seize opportunities created by the Union between Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, particularly in education, employment and business.

Eng Masauni said the government was committed to creating a conducive environment for young people to benefit from the Union, citing access to higher education through government loans as one of the key gains.

He made the remarks in Pemba over the weekend, while speaking at a graduation ceremony at an Islamic college, where he challenged young people to make full use of opportunities available to them to improve their lives and contribute to national development.

“Young people, you should take advantage of the many opportunities available to you, particularly in education, employment and business,” Mr Masauni said.

He commended the government for prioritising education through investment in infrastructure and strengthening teachers’ colleges in Zanzibar.

According to Eng Masauni, the initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to equipping young people with knowledge and skills that will enable them to contribute effectively to the education of future generations.

He stressed that sustainable development will not be achieved without a skilled and educated population equipped with knowledge, creativity, good morals and the ability to address national challenges.

Eng Masauni said advancing education was a shared responsibility that required collaboration between the two governments, education institutions, teachers, parents, leaders, communities and other stakeholders.

He further urged teachers to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills to keep pace with rapid changes in science, technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

He said the fast-changing world required teachers to remain adaptable and continuously improve their skills to effectively prepare students for emerging challenges and opportunities.
