Media key to advancing healthcare PPP reforms, stakeholders told

DAR ES SALAAM: VETERAN Tanzanian journalist Eda Sanga has reminded both public and private sector stakeholders of the indispensable role of the media in supporting healthcare service delivery reforms through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.
Sanga made the strategic recommendation while contributing to discussions at the National PPP Forum on the Health Sector, held at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking on the implementation of the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP IV) and the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, Sanga noted that the concept of PPP remains relatively new to many people and therefore requires greater public understanding.
She urged experts from the PPP Centre to invest in training journalists so that they can accurately inform and educate the public about PPP initiatives and their benefits.
Sanga further explained that one of the major barriers preventing ordinary citizens from understanding large-scale investment projects is the use of complex technical terminology.
She called on both media organizations and sector experts to use simple, audience-friendly language and innovative communication approaches when presenting information related to healthcare and private sector investment.
